  • Religious people are less intelligent than atheists, study finds

    http://news.yahoo.com/religious-peop...113350723.html

Religious people are less intelligent than non-believers, according to a new review of 63 scientific studies stretching back over decades.

A team led by Miron Zuckerman of the University of Rochester found “a reliable negative relation between intelligence and religiosity” in 53 out of 63 studies. Even in extreme old age, intelligent people are less likely to believe, the researchers found - and the reasons why people with high IQs shun religion may not be as simple as previously thought.

@ My having already been mentioned twice in this thread's very brief existence.

As for the findings themselves, I can hardly say that I'm shocked.

Did the religious and non-religious groups have the same education levels?

Poverty creates less opportunity for education, lack of education breeds ignorance and dependence. Ignorance and dependence destroys the desire to explore and understand.

I would venture to say that atheist are more open minded, thus allowing them to create organic thoughts and processes which the religious are not open to.

Max Weber would probably agree with me.

I recently lost half of my right hand. In workman comp law I've had to take college level placement test for schooling. Apparently I have a genius level iq. No joke. The workers comp ins. from my old job made retake 3 times to reconfirm as it enables me to full tuition coverage. I'm going to prelaw then law school. Theyve offered me multiple buyouts but fuk em. Btw I believe in God. But in an atheist steered society faith in Jehovah is discouraged. Anyways eventually I will be a poor lawyer defending the bill of rights in a court against police, gov, and anti bill of rights socialists. God bless.
