A couple of states here have the green card, which allows you to get marijuana prescribed to you. The dispensaries are the locations where you go to pick up your, cough, medicine...

They offer up a wide variety of strains and have % levels of the different cannabinoids listed on the jars. (THC, CBN, CBD) CBD is the chemical you want the highest percentage of, it has the most redeeming medicinal use properties.
