El Chapo, El Mayo Zambada and El Azul are probably the last of the old breed. Which shows, the Sinaloa Cartel operations are complex. They have influences in the goverment, banks and they're estimated to employ 500,000 people.

The other Cartels tend to be more brute and simplistic. The newyork families are all but irrelavent nowadays, the only real powerful ones are the ones in Italy and Sicily.



Actually in the last couple weeks the pentagon has said that they plan on killing El Chapo with an operation similar to the operation that they used to kill Bin Laden. It really doesn't matter though.

because the Italian American Mafia is pretty irrelevant today. Too many Dons are behind jail or dead. They've lost most of their influence. Which is why I think the FBI and the Government were ultimately successful.

You do know how long the Italian-American Mafia has been around right? How long they have thrived in the midst of the U.S. Government? Also, the Government is doing a far better job at prosecuting individual mobsters than it is at busting up their operations, and they can replace capos. I read the news stories all the time as a New Yorker.

Bottom line is the Mexican government is the Mexican government, and U.S. assistance is just that, "assistance". Probably the most important aspect of operations like that is control and command (calling the shots) which is still with Mexico. They're not about to give jurisdiction to us.
