laughable that americans have spinned the default medal count to be determined by Total Medals....In the unbiased world, it'll always be golds that count.

    • More upset city in judo. I've only been able to catch a grand total of one match so far due to lack of streams, but the repacharge matches are now underway. By far the biggest upset of the day has been defending Olympic champion, and reigning 2x world champion, and 2x European champion, as well as 2x world runnerup, and champion of numerous international tournaments, Ilias Iliadis, losing in the quarter finals against Russia's Kirill Denisov. Iliadas will still have a chance to contend for bronze if he can win his upcoming repacharge match. The Russians have been in some ways the story of the current judo events, having won 2 golds already, which tops the gold medal count (Japan is currently #1 in total medals). Japan's world #2 ranked fighter, Masashi Nishiyama was also defeated in the quarterfinals by world #17 Song of Korea, and the next-highest ranked non-Japanese fighter (each country being allowed one athlete per division), world #5 ranked Choriev of Uzbekistan was defeated also in the quarters by the world #8 Camilo of Brazil. Finally, Georgia's world #6 Liparteliani was shocked in his the round of 16 by Australia's Anthony, who subsequently was defeated in the quarters by Cuba's Gonzalez, who is #7 in the world and the highest ranked fighter left standing in the men's 90kg division. He will take on the Russian in the semi's, while on the other side of the brack Song of Korea takes on the Brazilian Camilo.

      • On the women's side, world #1 Decosse of France, a 3x world champion and Olympic silver medalist in Beijing, has qualified for the semi- finals. However, world #2 Bosch of the Netherlands, and World #3 Tachimoto of Japan were both defeated, leading to a repacharge showdown between the two for the right to contend for bronze, which has just been won by Bosch.

Going off that (****) method, 10 bronze medals are worth more than 9 golds

Yeah that is ridiculous what's the betting they change it back to how it should be if China start picking up bronze and silver but US edge ahead in golds what a joke.

            • Meanwhile, World #5 Sraka of Slovenia tasted defeat in the quarters as well to Korea's Hwang, and has just been defeated in the repacharge by Columbia's Alvear. This means that the French female world champion is literally the only remaining top contender going in standing, male or female (for gold). She is currently in a tough match with Hwang, which has just entered golden score.

                • And the Korean has just lost in the golden score overtime by yuko due to penalties. An anti-climactic way for the fight to end. However, the French fighter was likely on her way to a decision victory, barring some drama in the final remaining minute. Next up, Germany's Theile vs Chen of China. They upset the #2 of Holland and #3 of Japan, respectively, to earn their semi-finals birth.

                  • The Chinese showing some decent ground skills. Still scorless though.

                    • And after 5 minutes of regulation and 3 minutes of golden score, we go to a referee's decision. And it is, Germany. I honestly thought China did more, but I still don't 100% understand the judging criteria.

And on that note, I need a new stream. Goddamnit, this is ridiculous.
