Do you remember when, in the New Star Trek, at the beggining... When Eric Bana starts destroying Thor's ship... A missil hit and sent a girl to space.... More or less how it sounded is the way...

    Stupid reference but w.e.

      Could be wrong though.
Wave - Everything is a wave, light, x rays, gamma rays, even gravity.

There is no oxygen in space, therefor you cannot hear anything.

BIG BANG is a contradiction, it made no noise at all.

Sound can pass through water, there is oxygen in water. Sound does not exist on the moon, Mars or anywhere else except earth. Or another planet with an atmosphere.

Sound by definition is vibrations that travel through the air or another medium. Just because no one is there to hear it doesn't mean the event didn't occur.

But if there's no medium, i.e. a vacuum, then there would be no sound.

but it should eventually reach an ear or two at some point.

if it doesn't, granted we know the event occured, how do we know it produced sound?

            lol i'm trolling

It's not the lack of vibration, it's lack of anything to vibrate. Think about it. What exactly would be shaking back and forth? It's literally nothing. Not like around here nothing, no invisible shit, no anything at all.

                    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vacuum#Outer_space

Outer space has very low density and pressure, and is the closest physical approximation of a perfect vacuum. It has effectively no friction, allowing stars, planets and moons to move freely along ideal gravitational trajectories. But no vacuum is truly perfect, not even in interstellar space, where there are still a few hydrogen atoms per cubic meter
with out friction the sound wave would travel near endlessly, but eventually it would come across a hydrogen atom, and it would vibrate that atom, and that atom would make a noise.

in this same way if you put a speaker inside a lightbuld the sound waves would hit the glass and make sound.

though in a perfect vacuum, which dosnt exist in our universe, there would be no sound.

Speaking of old farts...do you think it's fair that Neil Armstrong was the 1st man to walk on the moon but Micheal Jackson got all the credit?
