pakistanis fly american f-16's as their air superiority fighter.

when the americans froze f-16 and f-16 parts deliveries , the pakistanis had to desperately get chinese fighters. (the russians sell to india and therefore won't sell to pakistan since india is a big customer)

that's a chinese fighter in the picture. it's 1960's design (chinese version of the soviet mig-21 i believe) but it's modernized and was delivered in the 80's and 90's.

with the u.s. freezing fighter sales to pakistan , china was their only resort. (china and india being regional rivals makes pakistan a natural chinese ally as well)

pakistan was always in a bad position from the start.

1st they were split in 2 with india in the middle.

then of course the east pakistanis turned against islamabad becoming bangladesh.


then the american freezing arms to pakistan in the 90's to 2000's hurt a lot.

especially the air force.

indian air force were always numerically superior but pakistan was able to hold their own in the old days with american fighters.
