Atheists get their moral compass from the same place everyone else does - from society. Society sets the rules and the limits on behaviour and society, via corrections and law enforcement in civilised countries, enforces it. Largely the same morality is adopted by atheists as by people who believe in god, the difference is that atheists don't pretend that an angry cloud daemon is in charge of it all.
