I used to go to Normandie Casino in Gardena to watch fights. Last fight was Tarver/Hopkins and by that time, casino fights werent packed at all. It was getting overtaken by UFC events so that was pretty the much the beginning of the end.

Watching PPV at the bar used to be special, it actually felt like a holiday but fast forward fifteen something years and boxing events are rare.

Yeah that's very true. We had a local UFC fighter signing autographs at one of the casinos on fight night. His name was the polish experiment. Fought the Filipino Brandon Vera but I think he lost. Anyway he was in the movie here comes the boom with Kevin James. It was a pretty big turnout. He also signed an autograph for me for this obese kid in my gym. I told Kristoff that they called my gym buddy "super heavyweight" and he had a good chuckle over that. I think the fights that night were more entertaining than most boxing undercards.
