He was trying to avoid being arrested, which given the situation, is pretty damn stupid.
People who record videos of themselves pointing guns at the camera tend to be on the dumb side.

Natural selection just weeding out the morons from society...

If you want to see a great example of restraint from police here it is, cops probably had several opportunities to bundle this dude up and his skanky hoe and take them in the hard way. Shows you what sort of patience is needed to be a cop today.

Kimberly Potter, the former Minnesota police officer who fatally shot Daunte Wright after mistakenly drawing her gun instead of her Taser, was arrested Wednesday and will be charged with second-degree manslaughter, state prosecutors said.

“Agents with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) this morning arrested a former Brooklyn Center police officer for the April 11 shooting death of Daunte Wright,” the state agency said on Twitter.

“Agents took Kim Potter into custody at approximately 11:30 a.m. at the BCA in St. Paul.”

The BCA said that “after consultation” with Washington County prosecutors, Potter will be booked at the Hennepin County Jail.

Washington County Attorney Peter Orput, who is expected to prosecute the case locally, said earlier that details of the charges will be released later, according to the Twin Cities Pioneer Press.

Potter, 48, was charged a day after she resigned from the Brooklyn Center Police Department in the wake of the 20-year-old’s shooting, which set off a third day of protests in the Minneapolis suburb.

The 26-year veteran and Police Chief Tim Gannon both resigned in the wake of the shooting. The city council also fired City Manager Curt Boganey over the incident.

Washington County was tapped to decide on charging instead of Hennepin County — where Brooklyn Center is located — to avoid a conflict of interest, officials said.

Wright’s death also is under review by the BCA.

Brooklyn Center Mayor Mike Elliott on Tuesday said he would ask Gov. Tim Walz to turn the prosecution over to Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison
Former Minnesota police officer Kim Potter convicted in Daunte Wright death to be freed from prison

Former Minnesota police officer Kim Potter, who accidentally killed Daunte Wright when she mistook her firearm for a stun gun during a traffic stop, is set to be released from prison Monday, records show.

Potter, 50, has served 16 months at the Shakopee Minnesota Correctional Facility and will serve another eight months on supervised release.

A shocking new booking photo shows the former Brooklyn Center police officer's deterioration behind bars.

Potter, a 26-year veteran, had a spotless record when the tragic mistake ruined her career and cost Wright his life.

The deadly confrontation unfolded April 11, 2021, after Wright, 20, was pulled over for expired license tags in Brooklyn Center — about 15 miles from where George Floyd was murdered in Minneapolis in 2020.

It turned out Wright had an open arrest warrant for failure to appear on a weapons charge. When Potter tried to arrest him, she believed he was attempting to flee and mistakenly drew her firearm instead of her stun gun.

Potter can be seen in body camera footage shouting, "I'll tase you! Taser! Taser! Taser!" before firing a single round. "I grabbed the wrong f---ing gun," she can be heard saying before collapsing on the curb.

The mother of two was convicted by a jury of first-degree and second-degree manslaughter, but Judge Regina Chu handed down a sentence significantly below the state-recommended minimum.

Chu, who grew emotional as she spoke, said that Potter was clearly remorseful. "She never intended to hurt anyone. Her conduct cries out for a sentence significantly below the guidelines," the jurist told the court.

The sentencing range on first-degree manslaughter is from slightly more than six to about eight and a half years, from which a judge can depart if there are mitigating or aggravating circumstances.

During the sentencing, Potter turned and apologized directly to Wright's family.

"To the family of Daunte Wright, I am so sorry that I brought the death of your son, father, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew," she told them through tears, before addressing the slain man's mother.

"Katie, I understand a mother’s love, and I am sorry I broke your heart. My heart is broken for all of you," Potter said.

          Unintentional manslaughter.

          • That was one mistake a gun owner, much less peace officer, should ever make.
