They won the League Cup in 1976 and won the FA Cup in 2011 which is 35 years. That's "nearly fifty years" in the same way that Arsenal haven't won anything for "nearly twenty five years".

Arsenal doubled Manchester City's outlay on players in 2003, and in 2002 City spent £60,000 while Arsenal spent £7 million. If you look back on transfer amounts Arsenal spent £107 million on transfers (not including signings like Robert Pires whose transfer fee was undisclosed) in the eight years leading up to the Invincibles season. Arsenal outspend City tremendously in that period on transfers and that's not even mentioning wages.

Arsenal are still a rich club, rich enough to compete, but it just doesn't seem to be a priority any more.

In the past 8 years, Arsenal have been in the CL Final, Carling Cup Final, FA Cup Semi's, CL quarters, semis, competed for the title in 2008 most notably.
