Even a half broken humiliated weekly Torres is better then Ba and most of the league..
He was being played out of position.

He's old and Chelsea wont offer contracts to players over 30 of more than 1 year.

If you're not offering contracts to a guy who still might be the best left-back in the world and a veteran who can still get between 15-20 goals from midfield both players are also homegrown.

Villa is a foreigner and old. Also I think Chelsea may have to shift out a foreigner before bringing another in with Benayoun and Essien possibly coming back to stink up the joint in January.

Unfeasible, imo. I'd imagine Chelsea are pulling out all the stops for Walcott as it would make sense to have a go at signing him even if he aint that great - he is a valuable commodity.

      • Pardew's delight at deal for Mathieu Debuchy

by Lee Ryder, Evening Chronicle | Jan 1 2013

ALAN PARDEW believes the arrival of French international defender Mathieu Debuchy will lift everybody at Newcastle United.

The news Newcastle have finally got their man after a two-year pursuit has brought a big smile to face of Debuchy’s close pal Yohan Cabaye.

Cabaye has lifted the Toon camp further still by returning to light training following a groin operation.

A move for £5.5m Debuchy from Lille fell through last summer when the French club moved the goalposts after initially agreeing to the deal.

However, as the Chronicle revealed on September 13 – two weeks after the summer window closed for business – Debuchy told his representatives to resurrect the deal in time for the new year.

          • Alan Pardew: Demba Ba must break silence on his future

by Mark Douglas, The Journal | Jan 1 2013

Pardew has been reticent to blame Ba for the speculation that has periodically flared up around the Senegal striker, and with his 13 goals so far this season, it does not appear to have affected his form. Again, the manager said that many of those being quoted or feeding information to the media are not actually directly employed by the striker, which has always been Ba’s line.

Going into the third successive window where Ba’s future is the major issue, though, the mood is shifting slightly. Pardew agreed with the suggestion that Ba himself could end the issues - and said that an early decision was required.

United intend to step up negotiations for Loïc Rémy after the weekend and want to sign the France international regardless of the conclusion to the long and drawn-out Ba saga.

By then they will have signed Mathieu Debuchy, who will arrive in Newcastle by the end of the week in a major January boost for United – who have seen Danny Simpson ruled out for four games with a broken toe. The United manager, understandably, was diplomatic but is clearly excited about the prospect of Debuchy joining his squad.

“A player of his quality and stature will boost everybody: our senior players, our staff, everybody. I hope we do bring in a player of that stature,” Pardew said.

                    • Pathetic by Mancini to start talking about not signing rvp could cost them the league..

You have 3 and possible 4 class strikers with Tevez.. Aguero.. Dzeko.

Why not just buy all the decent looking strikers in the world.. other teams can just play defenders up top..

Saying that RVP is up there with Ronaldo/Messi right now
