Frankfurt did overachieve this season. There's always that 1 club every season. Napoli the season before and got bummed in the Europa League despite all their "pretty" football against City where they got bummed 6-3 over 2 legs.

Europa is just for the small clubs. Olympiacos, APOEL. Give them a shot at revenue against the 2nd tier clubs like Valencia, Sevilla, etc.

Chelsea’s youth team is worth a shot being as they’ve dominated every level at underage groups from the FA Cup to UEFA Youth League to forming the backbone of England teams that are starting to win youth world cups.

I mean they are good - consistently. From Brendan Rodgers, Dermot Drummy, Joe Edwards, and Jody Morris. They’ve had complete almost unparalleled success. If taken in isolation from the first team which is how many managers have viewed them.

The issue is whether they are just good, well coached teams and not necessarily great individual talents.

That said I think realistically there should be 5 of them in the first team squad next year. And that’s why nobody really wants Sarri there to handle them. He’s a 60 year old novice. Might as well have an actual novice who knows the system.

And with Lampard it’s not so much the romance of him. It’s more the know how of Jody Morris.

At this point there has to be joined up thinking regarding youth products being integrated and a coherent transfer strategy.

So the club needs a director of football because the culture is Chelsea sack coaches. But you can’t let a manager like Sarri buy players like Jorginho who the next manager will jettison immediately

As far as the academy products I don't personally think any of them are good enough to be in starting XI including Loftus-Cheek but most of them think they're too good to be squad players they should have at least 5 in the squad anyway because the number of games Chelsea will play next year

Morata with Aston Villa would have like 10 goals in 36 games.

Tammy has 26 as a 21 year old. I think he's more than good enough really.

Given that he would be playing with way better players than in Villa or even Swansea where he had a little over 50% of Morata's production with like half the starts or something and 10 less games.

Tammy's 5 goals with a relegation fodder crew in Swansea with 15 starts would have sufficed after Morata left or before.
