Life doesn’t work out like that though. Salah and De Bruyne were both young and at that time didn’t have the self-belief needed to thrive in what was a team used to winning and being the dominant force in English footy for the past part of a decade.

Matic isn’t a miss. He’s good but Kovacic and Jorginho and Kante are all better than him. I’ve maintained that United themselves should be looking for someone better. I suppose they tried with Fred who unfortunately looks like a tiny bum
