It was an oil tanker? How hard is it really? the US didn't get owned, that part of the world is very dangerous and this isn't the first ship to get hijacked.

As a matter of fact it's easy for a civilian vessel to get hijacked because the pirates know the ocean there, have land at their disposal where they can just dissapear into and have guns that people on civilian ships don't have.

you are a cool guy Peebs but don't lump Britain in with the likes of the French or the Dutch, the last time someone really ****ed with Britain they got severely owned ( Argies in the Falklands) Britain isn't a country that backs down. And it isn't exactly hard to snipe three or so Pirates to save the captured captain. Props to America for dealing with it in the right way but remember Britan is the size of Florida and we are already fighting wars in Iraq and Afghanistan so obviously our resources are far stretched. I fully expect Britian to undertake similar tactics if one our Tankers is hi-jacked although would America have taken the same action had the Captain not beeen taking soley captive?. Still it is nice to see these pirates getting what is duely theres they have been getting away with piracy for too long and hopefully this sends a message to the other Somali pirates

Also these tankers need either soldiers or security to protect them from attack, Britains merchant Navy is equipped with only water cannons to propel any pirate attacks which is embarassing when they are armed with Automatic rifles and probably RPG's

Although this is a very serious subject, the fact these people are labelled as ''pirates'' does somewhat take the seriousness down a notch or two. Even if it is technically correct.
