What about the Universe? If it's eternal, then you must recognize that the concept of eternity is above human, i.e. there's the possibility of the existence of a superior entity.
If it's not eternal, then it started some billions of years ago from NOTHING, and famous Lavoisier's law says that nothing can be created out of nothing, there then must have been some "action" from above... Either way, there's God involved.

I think you're reaching somewhat if you have to go back to the 17th century to find a scientist to misquote. The short version is - Lavoisier is wrong. "Something" comes from "nothing" all the time, but on a level far beyond the understanding of his day. His seminal work on conservation of mass was working within parameters available to him in the 18th century, modern physics is literally centuries beyond anything he knew.
