Power is the first to show up and the last to leave because its core is natural, you dont need to be in good shape or young if youre heavy handed its always there, unlike speed timing conditioning all the other elements of the sport need everything firing to be in top form.

You obviously don't knock people out at the same rate that you could when you were younger.

But of all the traits that an older fighter loses power seems to be the one that diminishes the least and stays around the longest.

          Just ask George Foreman.

This is a boxing truism in my opinion. Not a myth.

Can't argue too much with the choices. I'd say:
            Power: Julian Jackson
            Speed: Prince Naseem Hamed
            Footwork: Vasyl Lomachenko
Ring Generalship: Roberto Duran/Ray Leonard (tied)
            Jab: Tommy Hearns
            Chin: Rocky Marciano
            Heart: Muhammad Ali
            Defense: Pernell Whitaker

I like Bread but the Duran example doesn't hold water. He spent most of his career at 135 but by the end he was at 168. Obviously he wasn't going to get many KOs hitting big Mofos at like 160/168 who were probably rehydrating to 190!

Why does everyone have Ali as heart??? I mean he's way before my time but a HW fighting other HW's??? And he has Supreme skills???

To me this would go to guys with inferior skills/size that won't quit. Guys willing to die in that ring.

Ali just doesn't seem like that guy?? Again I've never seen any of his fights so maybe I should STFU...

I wouldn't say to anyone STFU if you're just giving your views as you see them, on boxing.

I would say Ali on heart because he dragged himself through the 3rd fight with Frazier when he looked down & out. He went up against both Liston & Foreman when they were the scariest men in the world & won. Against Foreman he took head & body shots that should've killed him, shook his head, kept going.
When waaaaay past his best he allowed himself to be dragged into fights with beasts like Norton, Shavers & Lyle & went into the trenches & won. He did himself horrible damage doing that but he was the man that couldn't/wouldn't back down.

He defined himself as a fighter for justice & because of that he was willing to go right to th edge every fight.

So, yes, Ali for heart every time

that is exactly how I took it, and I still believe that is true

somehow, the conversation turned to knockouts... and the blame was put on losing ability to pull the trigger... which is true, but is NOT what that saying means

power being the last to go, assumes the fighter cannot pull the trigger like he did in the past, which will be correct and applies to everyone... but if he does land, BANG

that topic is obviously fueled by Tyson, who will prove you/me correct

no way can Tyson pull the trigger like he could in the past, I'm not sure how he will look after 3 rounds.... but, if he does land clean, Roy will go down...

that is what the saying means... and it is true
