  • Mayweather or Sweet Pea.

I talked with a fried today about who was a better defensive fighter — Floyd or Pea. I say Whitaker and he says Mayweather.

    Who is right?

Best is Nicolino Looche he doesn’t hold like Mayweather or bend to the ground like Whitaker

Pernell used to get knocked down, he used to get hit allot, and did too much bobbing and weaving. Thats the problem with allot of defensive wizards; They do too much flashy **** to avoid punches.

Mayweather isnt a defensive wizard imo. He's a "pureboxer". He is going to outbox you, and avoid the punch at the last second. Similar to SRL, SRR, and Ali.

Except his defense is so sharp, that he has a variety of ways of avoiding those punches.

If we strictly talking about avoiding shots, he is the best of all time but it goes beyond that. Just embarrassing about 80% of his resume, is unheard of.

For me, he is the GOAT. We wont see a fighter more dominant than him ever!

Mayweather was in his late 30's when he started holding. Dont rewrite history. This man was unreal and literally had no *****s in his armor. A flawless fighter, and most dominant of all time!

            Floyd for me

Like him or not, you can almost count on one hand the amount of memorable shots he took in his career. The fact you can remember certain flush shots over a 20 year career is crazy in itself. Most fighters you can pick out the same amount in a single fight.

I never considered Floyd that flashy, just defensively very efficient. Others may have better highlight reel flashes of defensive skills, but Floyd may be the most efficient and best.

Beat a lot of nobodies, best opponent was Cervantes a win and a loss. Typical Euro style tight guard upright.

Floyd or Pernal would beat him very easy as he had no power game at all and got away with it competing away from the top American fighters.

Looche was on a par with say Johnny Famechon not near a Mayweather or Whitaker.

Pernell has more defensive highlights and was more embarrassing to opponents, but Floyd was better on a more consistent basis

You admit he held which points should have been deducted but since refs were paid off he got to do it at will

Looche held the title for 4 years. Boxers of the 70’s were far greater than today’s boxers who can’t even fight 15 rounds most today are dead tired going into round 10 and they’re all juiced up on steroids
