  • How do pros cut so much weight?

How do they cut 10-15 lbs for a fight?

I'm walking around at 140 and I think I can make 135 by pooing, peeing, and not drinking/eating for half a day. But I just can't imagine myself making any lower than 135. If I walk around 140 I should be able to make 130 according to what most fighters do.

How would I do it? do they take laxants and other things to force fluids out of their bodies? is that legal?

    Thanks.

Eating meat and vegetables exclusively. And drinking 2 gallons of water a day, cutting salt out and scaling back on carbohydrates...then day of weigh in sweating off any more water weight

Every body is different. If not eating/drinking doesn't do the trick for you then you have to do some running or bicycle work to make yourself sweat and really dehydrate yourself.

Cardio in sweat suits day of/before weigh in, liquid diet if anything at all, no carbs, very little water. Very dangerous to cut any more than 5% of your body weight regardless of rehydrating via IV because it takes time to absorb the vitamins you have starved your body of.

You should already be pretty low fat if your a boxer, so your mostly just cutting out the water and glycogen stores to make weight.

Some poeple will use a sauna which is really hard on your body. Or you can wear a sweat suit and jump rope non-stop. You can take a salts bath that will literally suck the water right out of your skin.

But yeah, if you walk around at 140-you should be shooting for 130. You can lose 5 lbs of water weight in one hard training session.

As Dr. Gardner of Stanford have pretty much proven everyone is different. When you find the diet that works for you and stick to it. I'm a low fat genotype. High fat does not work well for me at all but it does for other people. Put those people on my diet and it wont work well for them.

Scary thing is that Boxers don't even cut THAT much weight compared to MMA guys. Wrestling brought about extreme weight cuts and now that people know how to do it properly, people cut a lot. Due to the new IV ban though, people haven't ballooned up as much because it's not really possible to rehydrate after in time to be at their best for the fight so they stay at a lower weight year round.

Some of the harshest and dramatic weight cuts I have seen have been by wrestlers and MMA fighters. The 2 guys I knew thatd cut dramatic amounts of weight swore by peanut butter, IDK why honestly but both guys could drop like 20lbs within 2 weeks, very dangerous but theyd do it.

Ive done 1 day before weight in and went from 145 (normal walk around) to 132 quite easily.

It wasnt fun in the last few hours but was fairly comfortable to be honest. Day before fight weigh in's I could do 15lbs in a week very comfortably.

Basically starting out from a fully carbed state, regular diet, hydrated you start a week out.

What you do is you -

                  Water load, then stop.
                  cut sodium
                  cut carbs
change the weight and density of food you are eatting.
then you get the rest off via sweating. I did only 2lb in the sauna for that fight, i know people who do alot more.

In a week i can comfortably do 6-7lb without hurting performance for a same day weigh in. I am 5 days into cutting for a fight as I type this, and was only 4lb heavy the week before, so very easy, no stress at all. Eating 6 fried eggs with loads of cheese on whilst typing this haha.

20lb in 2 weeks is mild for alot fo guys i know, not saying its healthy, but I know alot of them that start out atleast 22lb heavy the week before. I agree tho, in my experience, MMA fighters seem to push the weight cutting limits alot more than in professional boxing. They also seem to be alot better at it, and use better methods to cut the weight than alot of pro boxers do. I know pro boxers that walk around the same weight as they fight basically, imo maybe 10 years ago ud be ok, but now at the top level everyone is cutting 15lb for the most part, excluding a few like I seen GGG is close to the weight.
