  • Newbie Chick wanting to get into boxing

Mmmkayy.. so i'm new to this blog and all that jazz, but I want to get into boxing. I want to just go head first into this ****. Don't know where to start training wise. Dad says I'm pretty fast and I'm 19 so I think it's good timing for me to engage in it. Thing is, I am overweight however I have lost about 70 pounds myself so I mean motivation and dedication aren't things that I'm short of. I am headstrong and resilient..but it's like I'm not sure how I should be training and what not. I have the passion I just need direction. Tips would be very much appreciated all I ask is that you don't tone any suggestion down just because I'm a chick. I know I could kick ass just as good as any man out there in given time. Thanks in advance

Join a gym or buy a heavybag if you have a place to put it at home.

Conditioning wise you can start running. Jog and work in some interval sprints while jogging.

Really tho you need to get in a gym asap.

You need to go to an actual boxing gym. Just show up if you are serious and take it from there.

For minimum conditioning before hitting the gym:

                *Run 3 miles
*Jump rope 15 minutes without stopping
*100 push ups, dips, sit ups, frog kicks

It's not much but most people can't do this without tiring out. This is just a warm up before the real work out. You will be miserable when you start out (especially while sparring) if you continually gas.

I'd suggest working on these plus a kettlebell routine for basic strength and conditioning. Unless you have a very large mirror I wouldn't suggest teaching yourself fundamentals. Even then...

When you look for a gym make sure there are other females there. Regardless of how you want to be treated guys will always fight more defensively against women and it will be a handicap you don't need.

As stated you need to go to a boxing gym and be trained properly by a boxing trainer. I don't care if anyone disagrees but they are wrong if they would argue that you could train this way on your own like you can weightlifting and see success. Also a trainer knows other people locally in your boxing community and can get you some AM fights when and if you are ready. So you have the proper instruction the connections to compete if you wanted and after that the hard work is up to you.

If you want to get all into boxing, your best bet is to look into boxing gyms in your area. Try to find the best or the most reputable ones, and once you've narrowed it down, check them out for yourself. A trainer will be able to get you on the right track.

wow @ losing 70 pounds though, that's amazing
