  • Is Roberto Duran the greatest combination of offense and defense?

I've never really seen anyone as explosive yet so difficult to hit cleanly as Duran? Do you agree? Why or why not? Who do you think was better in this respect?

Very good defense, doens't get enough credit for it today. One of my trainers had the nerve to say Duran had no defense and was just a skilled brawler. I was speechless and I just didn't want to question his knowledge in front of everybody but man I was really shocked somebody would think that.

I'll give you Tyson but unfortunately We never saw his skills against prime, elite opposition. Roy Jones was mainly reflexes though and was more of a boxer than an explosive versatile brawler like Duran. Sweet pea lacked the punching power in his offense but he did have excellent defense no doubt. Benitez the same. Sugar ray Leonard or Sugar Ray Robinson?? Gene Tunney I cant really speak on. I've only heard about him. I guess I'll have to look him up sometime.

I hear that alot too. It annoys me especially when someone says he would've lost to this guy or that guy because he was a "face first brawler" and nothing more.

Probably yes, only a handful of people come close too him in that respect.
I'd put Jose Napoles, Archie Moore and possibly a few others up there with him but I would never pick one of them over him.

I couldn't keep my mouth shut if a trainer in my gym said that. Seriously, I'd probably call them out. Props for keeping your cool.
