i never boxed a day in my life. however boxing over the past 8 months has peaked my interest. I'm not the most athletic guy out there but i could see myself really getting to like boxing. I'm 17 years old, 180lbs., I'm 5'7, and 17 percent body fat. In middle school i was one of the fattest kids and it was all fat no muscle. the next year i started running and eating healthy I managed to become one of the skinniest kids in the grade by the next year. going into high school I was 118lbs. and i decided that i wanted to start bulking up. I put on some fat but alot of muscle. by the end of my sop****re year I was 185lbs. I had put on so much mass that I had the football coaches asking me to tryout. I don't play any sports but I would like to start one. i've thought about what sports I could see myself playing and ones I'd like. and I think boxing is for me. when I was a child i did some form of karate and we would do alot of sparring. I wasn't that good but I really enjoyed it. half the time i got the **** kicked out of me and had to go clean the blood off the floor from where I got kicked in the nose. My goal is to start training and eventually get in the ring, the Problem is that i have no idea where to began. do I need to get a boxing trainer? or can i coach myself? do i need just a boxing bag or should i go to a boxing gym? I live in a small town where their isn't a whole lot of options to box at. im still in highschool and just looking to pick up a sport any advice helps thank you!!
