The pic in my avy is me, in the white, beating the crap out of somebody in a smoker.
I have boxed for three years. I have had six charity smokers, 3-minute rounds w/16 oz. gloves. I am 37, registered with USA Boxing as a Master Boxer, and there is no one else in this city who is in my weight and age class who wants to compete on the record besides my friend and regular sparring partner; he's been boxing for 3 years longer than me and he would kill me in a bout. The charity bouts are a way for me to compete against younger (non-Master Division) fighters, and other recreational boxers. I have no ambitions toward going pro or anything like that.
I started boxing as a way to get my fat ass in shape and learn how to get over my fear of getting punched (hence my username), and have come to enjoy it as a sport and as a spiritual journey.
I injured my neck and broke my finger in a car accident at the end of March. I have been rehabilitating and recently joined a new gym. I should be back to sparring in another couple of months and intend to fight at the Ringside Nationals in '09. If things go well for me financially this summer I would like to start traveling and doing fights in other cities as soon as I get the go-ahead from my doctor.
I used to bodybuild and was a bodybuilding/fitness freak in my 20's. I have just started studying for my NSCA certification in fitness training, and am thinking about switching careers to become a personal trainer.
