    Ruiz' New Style

I just finished watching and scoring Ruiz vs. Chagaev and I want to say how improved Ruiz looked. I don't say it because I am from Puerto Rico, but because Ruiz really made a tough, interesting fight by working well on the inside and pressuring Chagaev against the ropes. I scored the fight even at 114-114, but a close round I gave to Ruiz could have gone to Chagaev to make it 115-113. Too bad this might be Ruiz' last fight now that he finally shows a style that could earn him the respect that has been so elusive for him since winning the WBA belt in 2001.

Stoney knew his limitations and had him winning at least. I'd prefer a Ruiz who loses in an exciting fashion to the version we had for so many years, but to say Stone didn't know what he was doing is foolish. The style he taught enabled Ruiz, who has little talent, to beat some very good opponents.

I thought that Ruiz was going to get the decision over Chagaev after the Valuev controversy. I had both fights even at 114-114, so I will not say those were robberies, but I think Germany owed Ruiz a decision but did not pay.

Why should Chagaev get screwed out of a fight just because Ruiz was suppsoedly robbed before? From what I've heard, Chagaev won by a pretty decent margin.

Watch the fight and judge by that, not by what you read. You might see the close fight that I saw.
