It takes years of practice and sparring to become well rounded enough in grappling and striking to become a competent MMA fighter by any standards. In the last few years I've seen plenty of boxers move to K-1 (where there's no grappling and they have the best chance) and they most often get owned by second rate fighters.

It is not tough or manly to talk trash, it is actually much more cowardly than keeping your composure and waiting for the fight to exact your revenge. Trash talkers in boxing are usually ignorant, shortsighted, and just not very bright in general. James Toney, Floyd Mayweather, and Zab Judah. All talk trash and all come across as possessing average or lower intelligence to me.

I don't dislike Toney because he's "mean" or "scary", I dislike him because he's tempermental, like a woman, and just seems like an ignorant fool. It's much more masculine to let your fists do the talking than run your mouth like a little ***** every time someone pisses you off, so I don't even really see him as "hard". ******, thin skinned, easy to agitate maybe. Hard? Nah.

Boxing is my first love and I'll always choose it over MMA, but some foolish words were just said and people needed to be corrected. I think you're just worried about the popularity of MMA overtaking boxing and that's why you're so hateful towards it. MMA is actually a great sport with a time honored history, dating back to pankration fighting in ancient Greece.
