BT say that WBA champion Jose Antonio Rivera is defneding his title against "championin recess" Travis Simms. Why???? Simms was never the realchamp, he was the regular champ and then he got stripped because he didnt wanna rematch the guythat he won the regular title fom by hitting him on the break. Now he sued and somehow is being given the shot at the title. Word is that SHOWTIME isnt going to put it on TV because Simms isnt a good TV fighter and he is so inactive. Nobody wants to see him fite. It shows that the TV netowrks got more juice than even the sanctioning bodies so now Rivera and this imposter is on an off-tv undercard to James Toneys fight. People wanna see Rivera fight. Lets get him with MARGARITO!!!
Why Is This Happening??

probably because no one wants to fight Rivera. it's weird he has the WBA belt and no one really wants to step up and fight for it.
so with that bit of reality for Rivera, i guess he has to do whatever he can to stay active. -
maybe so but it reads that the WBA is forcing him to fight this guy. this guy has been inactive and had a lawsuit against the WBA. his only reason for getting the shot is thatComment

He is fighting Rivera because it was part of the out of court settlement. He was wrong by the WBA, they took away his title without fair reason and he was also reinstated as the "champion in recess"
He never lost his title in the ring, now the issue can be solved in the ring.Comment

actually poppa. he was stripped becuz he refused to give a rematch to the man who he won the wba 'regular' title from by hitting em on a break. then that guy turned around and regained the wba title, winning it outright then rivera beat him on showtime mastefully. simms won a court case that woul dhave cost the wba more than to just have them shut him up by giving him a fight. they break their own rules and now as a result it is said that rivera cant capitalize on his big win earlier this year because the TV people at showtime boxing dont want simms to fight on thier air. so rivera is the most exciting dude on the show but will be in a off tv fight. lets get him with margarito or quartey so we canhave some fun to watchComment

I dont remember no hitting on the break. I remember the guy he fought getting KTFO cold. The WBA tried to force him to rematch the guy because he was made a mandatory and had no business being a mandatory. Obviously the courts agreed with Simms' side of the fence.Comment

BTW: If not Simms, Rivera would have to face mandatory Aceline. At least Simms is undefeated, can punch and will make it a great fight.
Here is the WBA settlement document for the Simms lawsuit.
