Hugo Cazares - Ivan Calderon in February

According to Primerahora.com (PR newspaper), Ivan Calderon and Hugo Cazares will face off in January or February in Puerto Rico. It doesn't state a weight but I would imagine it would be at 108 for Cazares' title.

This will be a great fight!

If this is true, Calderon will a two div. champ in January. There is nobody....yes...NOBODY that can beat Calderon at 105, 108 or even 112.

I don't know, at 112 he'd have a hell of a time with Darchiniyan and Arce. At 108, he'd wipe the floor with everyone, including Viloria and Nino.

This time Calderón wont run because is smaller, this will be the first defeat.

Cázares more reach, stronger, smart, taller and more balls.

It seems from your posts you have horrible reasoning abilities.

Calderon is the BEST technician in boxing right now. He has NEVER even come close to losing, hell.. he has barely even lost a round in his entire career.

Arce has expressed that he has too much trouble making 112 and will no longer fight at that weight. You have a point with Vic, he is definately strong. I think he actually poses the biggest threat because he is so unpredictable, and unorthodox for a classic boxer like Calderon. It would be an interesting fight to see. If Calderon can get past Vic's power, and it goes to a decision, Calderon will win.

Ivan Calderon is a classic boxer. He is called the Iron boy becuase when he started he had a different fighting style similar to "iron" Mike Tyson. Many people are decieved by his KO ratio, but Calderon actually floors many of his opponents during his fights. His slick boxing style is accompanied by fast combination and impressive footwork. He has barely lost a round in his entire career. He has a solid chin and his athletic ability, movement, and adaptability is very impressive. None of his opponents have come close to phasing him, stunning him, or breaking him down. He has made 10 title defenses and critics say the he is the most technically skilled and intelligent fighter today. The downfall to Calderon is that he stands at 5'0 and walks around at 115, so fighting anywhere above 108 would be a challenge for him. In his last couple of fights he has decided to incorporate more of a finisher's touch, something that he lacked before. But he is very carefull and knows the risk of going in for the kill. His last couple of fights have been quite entertaining and have been unlike many of his previous performances. Should Brian Viloria win tommorrow, he will most likely be facing Calderon next.

I favor Calderon if this fight happens but he better bring his best game. Cazares weight in at 132 on fight night against Dieppa, still he looked fast, not to mentioned he's strong and a decent boxer. If Calderon trains really really hard and fights a careful fight as he usually does, he should be able to box circles around this guy and take him UD, gotta watch out thou, 110 or so against 132, one shot could do it.
