Dont get me wrong, any boxing is good boxing for the hardcore fans.
But the guys with nothing to do on a wednesday night, that surf the channels and find there way to WEDNESDAY NIGHT FIGHTS on ESPN2 arent getting the real sport and they are getting a bad image.
But every single month, i look very forward to the VERSUS (OLN) Fight Night. And i gotta admit, my expectations were pretty high for this fight and will continue to grow every fight they put on.
And TIME AND TIME again, my expectations are exceded. They dont waste our time with nothing undercards, They kick it off with a co-feature, that is yet to NOT be entertaining.
The only non-entertaining fight thus far was Vilario-Nino, but it was still enjoyable because of the huge upset.
OLN switched their name to VERSUS, Probably in an effort to become more sports oriented and stuff. They have boxing and NHL now.
The boxing is by the far the best on television in the states (except for HBO and SHOWTIME) and they continue to splurge on the big names.
I like how they only do it once a month, because they allow themselves to get bigger names and better fights. And they get the audience involved by using that online scorecard.
The guys at VERSUS are doing an outstanding job, and i get nearly as excited for a VERSUS telecast as an HBO or SHOWTIME telecast.
THIS IS WHAT SHOULD BE ON ESPN, and this is what should be exposed to your everyday sports fan. Versus can really be a big player in boxing if they continue at this rate, ESPN already blew there oppurtunity in my eyes.
