I think that the Michigan v Ohio State matchup will be more of an impact on the fight than the MMA PPV that same day.

Only because some of my friends (casual boxing fans) are as hyped up about that football game as we boxing fans are about that fight.

both morales and pac have enormous ethnic fan bases in the states, as well as an even larger pool of fans over in their home countries. their status in their respective motherlands by FAR outweighs the status of any mma fighter anywhere in the world. pacquiao is basically THE MAN in the philippines and almost every single person in the country is gonna tune in as usual.

but don't get me wrong, i do agree with you that sales may not be all that extravagant (but definitely more than 200,000). remember that the price for this ppv is gonna be expensive as hell, 59.99, and mexicans and filipinos are pretty thrfty when it comes to **** like this and they know how to improvise (sorry to stereotype). for every one single ppv, god knows how many are gonna be watching from that single television. i know for sure that the family party i'm going to is gonna have at least 60 heads.

so in terms of ppv sales, you COULD be right, but in the end, the straight up number of people actually witnessing the fights doesn't compare.
