Floyd needs to take a page out of Cotto's book here. This isn'r exactly gonna be a safe fight, but you have to give Cotto props for testing himself at a brand new weight and not just taking some warm up.
Man, Cotto was trying to fight Oktay Urkal and not Quintana for the title. They were desperately trying to get Quintana to step aside, but Quintana wouldn't. They ended up paying Urkal to allow Cotto to challenge for the title. If this wasn't the only way Cotto could get a title shot, he wouldn't have anything to do with Quintana...

It doesn't really matter, the point is he is fighting him and thats the bottom line. Like I said I am not the biggest Cotto fan but this is a dangerous fighjt and id he wins, you have to give him credit is all I am saying. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Quintana won.

At this stage of his career, Mayweather was fighting the same tough opponents...

I just dont think he is ready for a Mayweather type of a fight yet and his people are correct to not want him in there with Floyd. He has so much more to gain by beating guys like Quintana, Cintron, Margarito and Williams. When he is done with that I think a superfight with another big star should happen who knows Maybe Williams vs Cotto will be a superfight. I am Bashing Margarito though because dude aint done a damn thing to get all this recognition. It is sad to see Cotto taking on tougher opposition in his first fight at 147 than Margarito possibly ever has in is entire career. Its probably why Cotto is the Main event.
Your right I do think that this will be a very tough fight for him and a good test, but if he wins, you have to give him credit. You say that you don't think he is ready for Floyd, but I'm not so sure about that for the reason that I thgink 147 will be a much better weight for him. I think he will be stronger at 147, where Floyd already seems to have shown signs that 147 isn't his best weight. I feel that all these fighters like Cotto,Floyd,Hatton etc. etc. need to stop being so cautious an just fight each other, the way that DLH,Tito,Shane,Vargas, etc. etc. By these guys being so cautious is really ****ing over the fans. You say Marg hasn't done anything to deserve recognition or a shot. Here is my problem with that. If that is your reason, my response to that is: What did Baldy do to deserve a shot. I mean nop one knew who Baldy was until he got a shot and beat Zab. he was suppose to be a warm up a speed bump. No one had a clue who he was. He got his shot and made the most of it. I like Baldy but he was nothing than a glorified journeyman that got his 15 minutes of fame and all of a sudden he is such worthy competition for Floyd or done so much to earn a shot. he beat an overrated unfocused Judah and an old over the hill Gatti that he was much bigger than. neither Judah or Gatti are legit welters. Don't get me wron I love Arturo but the truth is he has been past his prime for a long time even before he fought Floyd. I am not defending Marg but looking at this situation objectively Marg would have destroyed both Judah and Gatti. All I am saying is that he is just as legit as Baldy, but just hasn't been given the oppurtunity. Baldy got the shot because like I said he was just suppose to be a stepping stone that ended up shocking everyone and becoming a Cinderella story, but the clock was gonna eventually strike midnight, and Floyd beating Baldy isn't all that impressive. He did what he was suppossed to do. I mean come on dude did have 9 losses. Now had Floyd knocked him out I would have been impressed, but just getting the UD is waht was expected and nothing more. That is not hating it is just the simple truth, weather people agree or not which I am sure a lot of people won't but it's the honest truth.

Well I don't know what happened to him than. I am talking about present time, not six years ago when he fought Corrales and Castillo. he needs to find that again. I'm not defending Cotto, all I am saying is that you have to give dude props for fighting this fight in his first appearance at 147.

i don't think cotto is quite ready for a superfight against mayweather, he needs to put some more experience under his belt. i do think, however, that if floyd sticks around, which i think he will, cotto down the line can give mayweather all he can handle, and maybe then some

Baldo earned his shot by becoming Zabs mandatory. Marg won a vacated belt and got beat by the man who held it. enough said about that. Cotto isnt ready for Floyd he would lose badly right now just based on what I saw in the Malanagi fight. I will reasses when he fights quintana. Oh and I highly doubt that Marg destroys Zab Judah he probably will beat Gatti just because Gatti isnt a 147lb fighter and all his advantages go out the window at that weight. Also i was impressed with Mayweathers fight with Baldy I didnt expect him to KO a guy who has only been stopped once at that weight. Floyd is a natural 135lb/140lb at most I dont expect him to KO guys at 147+ but if he does that is a major achievement.

I certainly give Cotto credit. It's a tough fight. You remember the first time Floyd moved up a division? He fought a tough, lesser known fighter by the name of Jose Luis Castillo. Like I said, at the same point in their careers they were both taking on tough challenges.

But Floyd isn't at that stage anymore where he has to prove himself against every prospect and contender that comes along. I never hear people saying DLH should be fighting all the random title holders at 154 like Jose Antonio Rivera, Cory Spinks, etc. DLH never fights prospects or top contenders. At this stage of their careers, superstars are trying to fight each other...
