    Leave Know Questions

I finally got the chance to watch Floyds conference after the fight when he announced he's having just one more fight. What disturbs me the most about this is that he would be leaving so many questions unanswered. He's in a position that only the fighters of the 60's and 70's were in, meaning he is surrounded by great competition. Sugar Ray Robinson fought everybody in his era that had any type of name. Ali did the same thing he fought the best heavyweights of his time and they both etched their names in boxing history. Roy Jones didn't have the opportunity that's sitting in front of Floyd right now. He beat Hopkins, Toney, Hill, Ruiz but he wasn't surrounded with big name fighters to make his fight resume look better.

Floyd needs to understand, just because he's the most gifted fighter at this present time that alone doesn't make you a legend. You become a legend by fighting legendary fights, he has Cotto, Mosely, Oscar, Hatton if he stops being a *****, and Paul Williams. He's in a position to actually put himself right behind SRR if not in front of him. He said in his press conference this is his era but it just became his time in the past few years. Now that he is on top of boxing he needs to defend his crown by smashing his comp. Walking away after 1 more fight would be to walk away when the spotlight is just starting to shine on him. He has know reason to take any tune up fights he can actually finish his career with superfights. To finish his career now I think people would remember him as a great fighter but in the top 5 pound for pound.

    Been there, covered this.

That said I still think is a bull**** ploy to hype up his next fight, ala "Sugar' Ray Leonard and what he did before fighting (and stealing from) Marvin Hagler.

      I don't think he's retiring. He's pulling a Sugar Ray Leonard.
