    Calzaghe v Manfredo Are On!!!

Looks like Calzaghe and Manfredo are on:

Earlier today, **********.COM reported 'the Contender' season one runner-up Peter Manfredo Junior had been lined up to challenge IBF/WBO super-middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe.

This appears to be the case, with Manfredo's trainer Freddie Roach confirming that the 26-3 (12KOs) American has signed a contract to travel to the UK in the New Year to take on the undefeated Welshman.

"Peter has signed for it," the Wildcard Gym guru told SecondsOut. "The fight's in March in Great Britain and Peter's gonna shock a lot of people by outboxing Joe Calzaghe."

When this reporter suggested that Manfredo would be taking a major step up in class against a fighter who hasn't been beaten since 1990, Roach scoffed.

He said: "Come on - gimmie a break! Who has Calzaghe fought apart from Jeff Lacy? Peter's a much better boxer than Lacy is and while Calzaghe has a good chin, Peter and myself are very confident of outboxing Calzaghe.

"It's a very winnable fight for Peter."

    Interesting stuff!

If this is true - I will not put Calzaghe anywhere near my p4p top ten ever again. This was the straw. He sort of popped out of the hat to fight Lacy (although most non-americans believed Lacy was overly hyped)... and since then he has been back to his routine of fighting people that do not have a chance in hell. Pathetic.

No.. Joe has no place what so ever in any hall of fame with such disgraceful behaviour and disrespect for the fans.

So Calzaghe goes after a middle-weight that was runner-up in a reality TV show
Manfredo has as little chance in this fight as a snowball in hell. This is a complete waste of time. Just like Bika was - although I don't expect Manfredo to last as long.

I guess Kessler should give a shot to Alfredo Gomez. afterall he beat Manfredo.

Ridiculous how low Joe has come....

Yeah if this is true i have lost all respect for calzaghe, hes a great fighter and he has a chance to unfiy the belts and prove that he really is the best super middle weight, so why vs manfredo? what has he achieved? losing to the snake on the contender wow big accomplishment, he even got 2 chances and still couldnt take it out.. Just like calzaghe to go for the easier opponent.

You are entitled to feel this way. But I wouldn't go as far as to say he is disrespectig fans or that his behaviour is disgraceful. It will get him exposure in the USA and I still believe the Taylor fight will happen. Which, you will obviously disagree, is a bigger fght for Joe than Kessler.

The last one of your p4p lists that I saw had Kessler at No2 or something ridiculous. I wouldn't want to be anywhere near your list as a fighter.
