...I feel the level of conversation in this forum has somewhat declined in quality, of late. Not to fear, I am willing to give my valuable contribution to Non-Stop-Boxing once more with informative, well thought and memorable threads/posts.
So to kick off, a very relevant subject at the moment, the size of Nicky Piper's head. Ever get that feeling that you can't take someone seriously, because of their appearance or the way they talk? Not only has this man got, P4P, the funniest accent on the planet, but also the funniest visage.
In my quest for watching the pure boxing brilliance of Floyd Mayweather Jr on the weekend, I encountered this character giving his 2 cents on the fight.

Now, with what can only be described as an Orange on a toothpick, I found that his head size was intefering with his message, as slowly, what he says becomes of secondary importance. Fault of my own, you may say? My reply, it's hard to listen to someone who has quite possibly the most ridiculous head size of all boxing commentators and TV presenters, worldwide.
The guy may have made some valid points, I dont actually know, I was being detracted too much. However, I strongly believe that if Sky want to shun rival television broadcasts, they need to replace this individual with someone of much less laughable appearance. Employing someone with a head the size of Nicolai Valuev's when you are of the rather modest height of 5'4 is, perhaps, a decision that does not make the most business sense.
As Commonwealth champion for 2 years he deserves his dues. However I cant help but think that things, far from his control, were getting in the way, you know what I mean? Perhaps it was a sitting duck for opponents. A target, one might say. Anyway I wont speculate any more other than to say that having a head the size of Nicky's must have been a hinderance. Slipping punches, upper body movement and even the balance of the fighter are all impeded with someone who has a somewhat "top-heavy" structure.Without detracting from the real message of the thread, I will continue.
My projection for 2007 and onwards; quite simply. NTL and Telewest will surpass Sky television in subscription figures and Sky will spiral into a downward pit of absolute obscurity in boxing broadcasts. Meanwhile directors will point the finger at those lower down the chain of command. You know? the costume crew, the lighting crew, each of them get the sack to make financial headway (no pun intended). Women and children will starve because of this travesty and when it is all said and done, the over-inflated head of Nicky Piper could have been the be all and end all of the problems.
Please someone, just take this man off the tele.
Thanks.
