If Floyd Mayweather and Oscar De La Hoya fought, what should the split be? Who should get more money? I heard it discussed that there would be problems with this if they were to fight. In my opinion it's a no brainer and I don't even know why it's being discussed. Mayweather is the champion having just beat Baldomir, and he is the number one p4p fighter in the world, therefore, he should get more money.

the lion's share of the purse shouldnt go to the "champion" (in this case both fighters are champions). it should go to the bigger draw. floyds ppv buys are pitiful, absolutely pitiful. oscar could sell out arenas just by showing up.
60-40 for oscar. the purse would be so big, it shouldnt matter who gets what share. -

Firstly, the fight will be at 154 so PBF is not the champion. DLH beat Mayorga and is the WBC Light Middleweight champion. PBF is nothing at 154, although maybe he will hurry up and fight Zab's victim, Cory Spinks, to win the garbage IBF belt?
Secondly, PPV revenues are about who brings the fans. DLH is PPV #1, end of story. A 60/40 split in favor of DLH is more than fair IMO, but you can argue that is too generous to PBF. DLH will make huge $$$'s in his last fight no matter who he fights, so PBF brings very little to the PPV.
Maybe it's hard for PBF fans to understand, but the guy doesn't add much to the next DLH PPV. I think DLH-Trinidad would generate more $$$'s than DLH-PBF.
It's not about who is the best P4P. It's about business. DLH has good business sense and if he offers PBF a fight, it won't be anywhere near 50/50 split because PBF doesn't deserve it.
If PBF had fought A class opponents the last 3 to 4 years and built up his own legend, then he would have been in a great bargaining position
He didn't and he isn't. But he can still make $8M fighting Baldomir class fighters so don't feel sorry for him.Comment

Are you ****ing kidding me? Please tell me your joking!!!!!!! Floyd will never get over on Oscar. Oscar brings in all the revenue and PPV sales. Floyd did barely over 9,000 in attendance for his fight with Baldy. Had that been Oscar, the palce would have been sold out with people waiting outside to get in. Floyd is not the draw and it was proven this weekend a little over 9,000 is pathetic, Oscar would have done that in his sleep. Floyd will never get over on Oscar in negotiations. Oscar brings the money and Floyd will never come close to making that kind of money anywhere else without Oscar. If Floyd Mayweather and Oscar De La Hoya fought, what should the split be? Oscar offer a 60/40 to Floyd? I don't think so. ODLH offerd 70/30 to trinidad. Do you think Floyd will bring more people to the seats than Trinidad? No, if he offers more than that to Floyd then he will face the why did you offer less to Tridad where you scared? For this reason I don't think Oscar would offer anymore than 30% to Floyd if not offer less just to make a point.Comment

good point i agree tito is a big ppv in his own right even w/o dlh his ppv sell very good and oscar offered him 70/30 .....i would be surprised if he offers floyd more than 30% regardless it would still be floyd's biggest payday so he should take it ...Oscar offer a 60/40 to Floyd?
