    Floyd's record

look at cotto record than look at floy's...... cotto is only fighting young hungry underfeated fighters while floy is fighting old looking for a big payday ready to retire veterans. floy has never fought anyone that had 0 loses in there record or anyone who where at there prime.

Quintana is a harder guy to fight than Baldomir if Cotto wins his next fight he
better be one of the top 4 pound for pound. Give the man credit

Mayweather doesn't have a particularly great resume, however he does have particularly great skill.

Floyd has faced 10 world champs.
      Double that of Cotto.

You're an idiot. Chico was undefeated when Floyd totally bitched him.

Floyd has fought much tougher opposition than Cotto will ever dream of. Floyd is the best in the business and nobody out there can beat him right now (not at 154 and below).

This 'lb4lb' should be based on skill. Why was Tyson lb4lb #1 in '86, Jones Jr a lb4lber in '92, and Toney lb4lb #2 (having not been in the top 10 ever before) after beating a Barkley who had long fallen to pieces? Skill.

That's why I always said Joe Calzaghe was the best fighter in the world, back in the day.

Mayweather's win/loss record against top level opponents is better than anybody else in the sport. Wright may fight better competition, but he doesn't win them all.

I can understand your being pissed if Mayweather really does retire with his record looking like it does, but comparing him to Cotto of all people? At least Floyd has some serious competition on his record. Diego Corrales, Jose Luis Castillo, and Zab Judah. One could even argue Carlos Baldomir and Arturo Gatti, I just don't list them because to me, they were well past their prime.

              ....but Cotto?!

Once you start to look at Cottos record then you start to see he's fought some tough competition. If Cotto wanted too, imo, he could box all his opponets he's faced so far and win easily.

Mayweather is good, but he's getting old, he's getting the old fighter syndrome, throwing one punch at a time. I was floyd i'd be fighting more regularly because he's not looking that sharp, and part of it is do to his long lay offs.

You've got me there, I can't dig back into Cotto's career because I've only been following him for roughly a year and a half. However you can't take away the fact that Floyd has more top-notch guys on his record than Cotto.

That said I think Cotto has all the ability he needs to become great, if he can get past Quintana. Which I don't think he will.
