Let's say that for a moment, someone brings forward some damning evidence confirming that Briggs has take illegal growth substances. What are the reprecussions? Does he get stripped of his title? If you guys recall, Toney came out of his steroid scandal smelling pretty good and got a title shot and a title eliminator bout afterwards.Comment

Of course any titleholder that violates the rules should be stripped of his belt. Simple as that.
The trouble is that boxing, unlike other sports is not, but badly needs to be, regulated by a single entity, a la NBA, NFL, MLB, etc... It would make it very easy for the fighter and even easier for the fans. There'd be just one belt per weight class, therefore only one prize for a fighter to focus on, and therefore only one truly undisputed champion at each weight division.
Sadly, I think it'll be a long time before we finally see this.Comment

I'm curious, have any boxing journalists asked Shannon Briggs directly or indirectly if he has used banned substances and/or steroids? Additionally, has any journalists even alleged that he's used steroids?
It seems like boxing fans are the only ones who suspect he's used steroids or that boxing journalists/analysts/commentators don't have the balls to say anything.Comment

Well, this is a pretty old thread, but maybe still relevant. No matter what Briggs is on, or not on, he will need to do serious cardio work for this Klitschko fight. Even if he does land a bomb or two early on, I doubt it would be enough to finish Klitschko.Comment

Unlike anabolic steroids, corticosteroids aren't banned.
Corticosteroids such as cortisol are used in every major sport as a short term anti-inflammatory when an athlete gets an orthopedic injury like a sprained ankle.
I thought you were a PED expert?Comment
