Of Course he's not retiring. Why would Mayweather retire?

On a different note, I won't to point out something. Floyd keeps comparing himself to Leonard, Hearns, and Robison.....which Manny Steward laughed at as did I.

Given his style, which is more defensive in nature, it would be more appropriate, and accurate for Mayweather to be compared to Pernell Whitaker or Willie Pep. He reminds me quite a bit of Whitaker, actually....from an orthodox stand-point, of course.

i think hes comparing himself to robinson and such, saying that he was at the same skill level. Not the same style or anything.

i would not LAUGH at that. i think he could prove it by the end of 2007. i think he already has the skills to be in the top 20 greatest of all time, and if he beats DLH, Mosley, Hatton, Williams, and Margarito, then there is no reason why he SHOULDNT be mentioned among those names

Well, we'll see. I think it's too early for such a statemen, personally. To know how great a fighter is, you have to see him truly tested. Mayweather is so far and above his competiton, so far, that that opportunity for judgement hasn't been forthcoming. The same problem is presented with Roy Jones Jr. Skillwise and talentwise, I think it's argueable that he is among the best. The problem with adding his name to the likes of Robinson, Greb, and the others, is we never really saw him tested...and he never fought some of the best of his time, while he never fought others. He fought and beat Hopkins in a close contest when both were green, beat Montell Griffit with no question....that was good. His wins over Toney and Reggie Johnson were also extremely admirable; but his win over Hill can't really be taken into "high" consideration because Hill was past his best and had just lost his title to Darius Michaeleski. Jones never faced Nunn, Benn, McClellan, or Eubank...and that hurts him.

Skill and "perception" is not enough for most boxing pundits. We like to see a "great" snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. To do that, a fighter has to take on the very best. So, Floyd is indeed going to have to take on all of thos you mentioned and more.
