That should have been stopped in the second. They replaced Jacy Kuhn with Santos Pakau, the guy that lost to Antonio Mesquita a couple of months ago on ESPN. Williams wasn't even putting much into his punches and he was taking Pakau's head off. One of these days, Cortez is going to get somebody killed because it went to the sixth and it was only Williams laying off that got it that far. This doesn't really tell us much about Williams. In fact, those that didn't realize that he was laying off Pakau were wondering if he could really hit because he was catching Pakau flush and not sending him out.
Paul Williams fight was gruesome.

dude looked like dave chappelle big time!...first time i saw him fight, heard a bit about him...i think on the basis of this fight....only one thing comes to mind 'dnt believe the hype' . He kept throwing arm punches all night. But yeh i agree should have been stoped the kiwi's punches werent having any effect when he was throwing them, and he only threw about 10 punches a round if that. The ref was a ****sucker, should have stopped the fight about 6/7 rounds earlier then he did....perhaps he was getting paid on commision....more rounds more money....who knows! That should have been stopped in the second. I want to commend Pakau for having balls of steel; but Joe Cortez should be ashamed of himself for allowing that fight to go on that long.
Paul Williams.....I am very impressed with this cat, have been every time I've seen him fight. He's very relaxed, very fluid, and fights well on the inside for a tall guy. His punches flow without much effort. He's gonna be around for a while and make an impact, me thinks.Comment

I not sure what round it was but after a while Williams kept rockning Pakau's head back with almost every punch.Comment

Willams really danced with looking bad beacuse of this fight...his punches were put together nice and he clearly outclassed the guy, but the fact that his opponent was concerned with nothing more than looking like Rocky Balboa and taking a one sided beating while trying to mount a comeback...made William's look overrated to a crowd that was supposed to be his coming out party. I think William's is one of the best stars out there and would love to see more of him but if these world class fighters who are so much more skilled than there opponents don't learn how to close the book on fighter's when they have established dominance it will hurt not only them but the sport and the opponent I guess to....lolComment

It was like boy versus man in there. Pakau has brass balls for going in there atthe last minute anyway and I hope he got paid well for that. Probably not, though. I don't want to sound careless or anything, but Williams did the sportsmanlike thing by not mowing Pakau down, which he certainly could have and looked good with a quick KO. He needn't show as much charity to Margarito, though, because Margarito will kill him. Being a human being in there made me respect Williams as a person that much more because he could seriously have torn Pakau apart, but obviously saw that there was no need for it.Comment

I just seen the fight and what Williams started to do in about the 4-5 round is pace himself. Williams knew he wasn't going to get the ko, becaue Williams power is OVER-RATED. Willaims looked good for 1-2 rounds then started looking sloppy again, i kind of laughed when Williams held on to Pakou even though Williams was dominating.
If Williams had the power some people think he has Williams would havd ko'd Packu. When Antony Mosquete fought Packu, with ONE punch Mosquete would floor Packu. And Williams opponet was a 24 hour replacment, Williams should have been able to at least knockdown Packu with a head shot. The body shot he hit him with seemed like part of a slip.
Anothy MOsquete v. Packu - Mosquete floors Packu repeatedly.
The fight starts at 1:18 of the video.
