Open scoring system discussed on Cold Pizza this morning

Just a minute ago Skip and Woody took a break from discussing Louisville's huge win over West ******ia last night (Yes, I was at the game and it was easily the best sporting event I've ever witnessed) to talk about open scoring in boxing. They both thought it was a good idea until Woody mentioned all the problems with it. When fighters know they are behind for a fact, they will be more likely to low blow and headbutt (like Barrera vs. Pacquiao or Judah vs. Mayweather for example). He said even fans could get distressed and start chucking **** in the ring now. I tend to agree. It's good to have the fighters assume they are ahead or behind instead of knowing it for a fact. Boxing doesn't need a scoreboard. It really won't help with controversial decisions anyway.

i dont like open scoring either, but they do need some system to cut down on robberies this would help, but it would also effect fights

how will it help with robberies? it's not like they're going to go around discussing the score with each other. they post their score and it flashes up on a screen or whatever. they're still going to score fights like they think. and besides, we see the scorecards after most controversial decisions anyway. nothing changes.

DelaHoya vs. Trinidad is an obvious example.

BS this will too help with robberies. These judges have to pieces of paper their writing on now. The Official score sheet, and a piece of paper. At the end thy just loook for close rds and say eh...Don payin me will take this 10-9 rd and that 10-9 rd and switch it. This will help with some of these BS decisions

it'll make judges more honest cause they know if they have a fight 7-1 after 8 for a guy when the fight could or should be 4-4 5-3 either way they'll get jumped after the fight and beaten to a pulp
