Lets say Pacquiao beats Morales in the third fight (Not counting Morales out) but lets just think that..then Barrera vs Pacquiao happens and somehow Barrera beats him, would there be a third fight between them like it happened between Morales vs Pac? or would Barrera retire and would'nt go for the trilogy?
If Barrera beats Pacquiao???

if barrera wins there would be no need for a trilogy/3rd fight. when barrera fought pacman he said he was not at 100% and he said there was a lot of distractions affecting him leading up to the fight. so if barrera wins when he fights pacman again, he will feel vindicated and would feel that he proved all the doubters wrong who fought he was just making excuses. so even if barrera beats pacman it would show that perhaps barrera was telling the truth, because of this there would be no need for another fight against pacman, barrera would have proved himself. however, if pacman beats barrera again he would have proved that the first time was no fluke and he would be 2-0 up against barrera, and then there would be no need for a trilogy in my opinion.Comment

Barrera cannot beat Pacquiao. Maybe the Barerra of old but this version of Barerra is too timid and not willing to stand and exchange with Manny. I like Barerra but lets be realistic here. At this point in his career , Pacman is just too much for him.Comment

highlighted phrases which clearly shows weakness in your premise.if barrera wins there would be no need for a trilogy/3rd fight. when barrera fought pacman he said he was not at 100% and he said there was a lot of distractions affecting him leading up to the fight. so if barrera wins when he fights pacman again, he will feel vindicated and would feel that he proved all the doubters wrong who fought he was just making excuses. so even if barrera beats pacman it would show that perhaps barrera was telling the truth, because of this there would be no need for another fight against pacman, barrera would have proved himself. however, if pacman beats barrera again he would have proved that the first time was no fluke and he would be 2-0 up against barrera, and then there would be no need for a trilogy in my opinion.
pacquiao lost to morales because of his socks and he fought with only one eye. if we are to believe that, having him knock erik out, then there wouldnt be a trilogy, if your argument is to be made a situation similar to that.
excuses dont count.Last edited by Papa Ace; 11-01-2006, 04:59 PM.Comment

Morales, I think, is just this side of shot, if he hasn't crossed the line yet. Pac should stop him a little earlier than he did last time, IMHO.Lets say Pacquiao beats Morales in the third fight (Not counting Morales out) but lets just think that..then Barrera vs Pacquiao happens and somehow Barrera beats him, would there be a third fight between them like it happened between Morales vs Pac? or would Barrera retire and would'nt go for the trilogy?
If Barrera beats him in a rematch? Well, we're talking major all-time-pound-for-pound merits, seriously....especially at this stage of his career. Will he retire? Probably not. He fought Morales three times, he'd give Pacquiao a chance to settle the score.Comment

how are the points you highlighted weaknesses??? im just sayin exactly what barrera was sayin after his defeat to pacman, he said he was not 100% and he also said he would feel "complete" if he were to win against the pacman. pacman said he lost to morales because of the gloves and his managerial issues with his former manager, some pweople were sayin he was making excuses...... but he got back in the ring agaisnt morales with reyes gloves, not a cut over his eye over a head butt, and did not have no managerial problems and went in the ring and KO'd morales, he backed up what he said, where people sayin they were still excuses, he erased any doubt anyone had when he KO'd morales.highlighted phrases which clearly shows weakness in your premise.

now all im sayin is if barrera beats pacman, he would have perhaps proved (just like pacquiao) that there was a legit reason as to why he lost the fight and it was not in fact excuses. i even believe that "this version" of barrera has what it takes to beat pacman, the barrera of old would have perhaps traded and made the fight a lot more exciting but he perhaps would have got KO'd quicker, i mean it would be silly to trade with pacquiao and go toe to toe with him. this version of barrera can fight pacman (controlled agression, rather than his old sluggin style of just coming forward) and he can also box him, but its not going to be easy because pacman is at the top of his game now.Last edited by amaru; 11-01-2006, 05:41 PM.Comment
