AUTHORITY: Hello Dan, We all know how Floyd turned down Arum's 8 mill for Margarito, are you guaranteeing 8 miss?

DAN_GOOSSEN: He's making more than $8M and he's fighting the one and only welterweight champion of the world.

DAN_GOOSSEN: Margarito, no matter how much was out there, hasn't earned his right to fight Floyd.

    DAN_GOOSSEN: He's a semi-main event on December 2 underneath Cotto.

DAN_GOOSSEN: That tells you all you need to know. Throw in the fact that he's dodging his mandatory with Paul Williams and you've got all the answers you need right there.

Couldn't have said it any better myself...
    That pretty much sums it.

Whatever Goosen says I can 100% guarantee two things.

          1) Margarito will fight Paul Williams in his next fight after Clottey

          2) Mayweather won't fight the winner of that bout no matter how much they offer him

          And this it the truth.

the fact that hes underneath cotto, and this is cottos first fight at welter, where margarito has been in the division for how many years? That part is more telling that anything to me, if your that good and your that much of a darkhorse, why would you be on the undercard of Cotto, thats pretty telling.

true true but goosen also has to realize that margarito is looking for the big payday too, that holds more water then fighting the mandatory that aint going to bring in any real cash and it's a risk. can't blame old boy for wanting to hold out until he gets a phat check.

he does need to step it up though in order to get what he wants, because they aint going to give it to him, margarito is going to have to go through the guantlet, they are going to make sure he does before they line him up on anything real.

He is not getting the big payday fighting Clottey, if anything he should have got his mandatory out of the way so that he could potentially get that big payday.

Anybody who would claim that somebody needs to "earn his right to fight..." is just talking out his ass. That is not the way professional boxing works. Like any business, boxing is about money. Although at times boxers make some rather foolish decisions, nevertheless the financial reality catches up to them eventually. Joe Frazier once turned down 3 mil to fight Muhammad Ali for no other reason other than Ali would make as much as him. He then took the fight with George Foreman for 800K, and we all know what became of that. Foolish isn't even the word for it!

I doubt it. he'll fight mosley before he fights williams again.
