    Joel Julio-Cosme Rivera

I really was not impressed with Julio Friday night. First off, why was he the one circling? He's the one with the power, he should have been taking the fight right to Rivera. He allowed Rivera to get confidence in there and Rivera started to try things that Julio shouldn't have given him the chance to. Julio did not open up any real sustained quality combinations in there and he showed alot of weakness by getting dropped in the last round, he fell apart from the distance he was being dragged into.

This is the reason why Julio should find a new trainer.. Not only is Julio confused.. So is Mcgirt.

McGirt tries to make boxers out of everyone. Not everyone is a boxer.

Exactly, Julio needs to be a stalker, like a Miguel Cotto type fighter. He can't see the fight moving backwards, it's not his mentality.

I only saw the first 2 rounds, but he didn't look much different from the Quintana fight. A true boxer would defeat him easily again as long as he can handle Julio's power.

Damn, McGirt's really had a tough year even though this fight was a win.

Tell me about it.. Hopefully Mcgirt gets the message that Julio isn't a boxer.. He has power.. And has it for a reason.. He is better off being a stalker than a boxer..

Julio doesnt have the skill to pull that off, the natural habits he has now arent going to change, hes an average fighter and will have likely an average career, mcgirt or not.

Probably true, Rivera is known to have power but not real heavy power, and for awhile Rivera was actually out boxing Julio.

I still see a lot of raw talent in Julio, and i still belive he may not be getting the tough sparring - sounds dumb, but it appears that way to me when i seen his fight with Rivera.

It could also be that Julios chin isn't that great, which may be why he move away from his oppoent most of the time when they charge at him or again, it could all be do to bad training habits or sparring.
