    Henry cooper VS Muhammed Ali

Ok, I know very little about boxing really, I only really stufy technique, and do watch some matches. BUT seeing Ali vs cooper I saw this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnEDM4EC5kw
From this Id say cooper was matching ali.

Well Clay was a young kid in that fight, and after he cut cooper early he stopped punching and started taunting - because he wanted to finish Cooper in round 5 as he predicted. In round 5 he came on strong again and finished cooper.
That fight did show Ali's ongoing weakness against a good left hook.

The rematch a few years later was very one sided and Cooper was cut to ribbons. Ali improved a great deal the years following that fight.

If you look at the fight, Clay got tagged with left hooks prior to the big left hook that knocked him down, so he might have been a bit hurt before.

Clay was still young and growing...you thicken into your 20's.

I don't think Clay would of been knocked out, even if there was more time in the round: Cassius (later Ali) had great recouping powers and great reflexes...the fact that he got up that quickly and went to his corner shows that his body could go on cruise control, knowing what to do...Just look at the fight with Frazier, he was stunned and he survived...later on he took a massive shot, got right back up, and survived.

Holy ****, I just watched the clip with the sound up and never noticed this before: you can hear a guy yelling "Hook, Hook, Hook, that's it, Hook"...I guess this was someone on Cooper's team ??? or was it some guy just adding his voice in the editing room, lol

Both Ali and Joe Louis were excellent in rematches. In the second Cooper fight, Ali was able to block the left hooks easily, and Cooper couldn't hit him with the left hook, so Ali had an easy night in the second fight.

Not in the case of Norton.

That's a bit unfair: Ali wasn't the same after his exile, but before the exile, he beat Cooper easily in the second fight and knocked out Liston early in the rematch.

I think not. And Clay should have probably been counted out against Cooper.
