    New Floyd Mayweather Jr. Interview...

    Exclusive Interview: Floyd Mayweather Jr.
    By Ace Freeman

FightFan.com’s Ace Freeman caught up with Pretty Boy Floyd Mayweather as he was cooling down after a work out. Read what the P4P best fighter in the world had to say about his upcoming fight with Carlos Baldomir, and the love he has for his fans. Only on FightFan.com!

    October 25, 2006

FF: Floyd thanks for taking the time to talk with the FightFans at FightFan.com.

FM: It’s my pleasure. I’m very loyal to all of my fans and am happy to talk with them. I love the fans.

FF: Floyd how is training going? How are you feeling entering the final stages of training for this fight with Carlos Baldomir?

FM: For me, it’s the same old program. It all comes down to hard work and dedication. I dedicate myself in training to be the best that I can be. I love the sport of boxing and I put everything into my training so that I can be at my absolute best. I owe that to the fans.

FF: How significant a fight is this for you? Carlos Baldomir is the undisputed Welterweight Champion of the world. Are you excited to be fighting for that distinction?

FM: It’s not really about the titles for me. It’s about the fans, and giving them what they want to see. They’re going to get the same old Floyd Mayweather in this fight and I look forward to putting on a performance that’s going to impress everyone that’s watching. There’s a lot of blood and sweat that goes into the game and I’m excited to have the opportunity to put on a show for all the fans.

FF: Personally, as both a fan of the sport and member of the media, I’d like to see you have the undisputed Welterweight Championship before you look to bigger fights. I really want to see you in with Oscar early next year. Is that still something you’re eager for?

FM: I’m looking for the biggest fights out there. It’s what the fans want to see, and at the end of the day, all roads lead to Floyd Mayweather. I want these big fights and I want to see the fans to come away happy.

FF: Floyd there’s no doubting that you’re the top pound for pound fighter in the world right now. What is the expectation like that comes with that distinction?

FM: At the end of the day god chose me for this. He gave me a gift and I’m doing my best to use it and to keep those who are watching entertained and happy. As long as I’m doing that I stay motivated and happy myself. I love fighting and I love the sport of boxing. The fact that I’m able to entertain the fans while doing what I love makes me feel very fortunate.

FF: Floyd we are a new site but we’re making waves. Have you had a chance to check us out at FightFan.com?

FM: You know man, I don’t spend a lot of time on the computer, but my man here brought your page up and showed me and I’ve got to say it looks good and I appreciate what you guys are doing for me. I’m very thankful for what y’all are doing and I’m glad I can get at the fans like this.

FF: Our hit rate has sky rocketed in the 8 months we’ve been around. We have a large following here in North America as well as places like the UK and the Philippines. We cross promote with Pacland and Philboxing…

    FM: I love those guys.

FF: Well we appreciate the time Floyd. We’ll be down in Vegas next week and we’d love to catch up with you in the days before the fight. Can we set that up?

FM: No problem at all. I appreciate you guys doing your bit to promote the fight (Mayweather Baldomir is FightFan.com’s Feature Fight of the Month). Please let the fans know that when they tune in on Nov. 4th they’re going to see the same old Floyd. I’m bringing the excitement!

            The Fix does.

I do too. I'd still like to see Zab fight. I find him to be entertaining to watch. Fast feet, fast hands and that big left hand.

the more and more i read your responses, the more i wonder why you click this thread, you know how mayweather is, you know how he thinks of himself, yet you read it knowing what your going to say, and you say it anyway. then someone asks a question and you reply with "who cares", why even come into the topic?

You have to expect at least one Floyd hater in any thread about the man himself, lol.

I wish they asked him more boxing related questions. I could care less if he knew what there site was or if he had looked at it much.
