    Evander Holyfield’s Age Is Irrelevant

Yesterday I was privy to a conference call featuring Evander Holyfield (39-8-2, 26 KO’s) discussing his upcoming bout with Fres Oquendo.(26-3) As I listened to the call I got increasingly frustrated with the questioning by journalists who wasted the opportunity to speak to the 4 time heavyweight champion by focusing on Evander’s age.

Let me say this loud and clear: EVANDER HOLYFIELD IS SHOT!!

He's old, he looked old in his last fight...all stove in, to use an old expression. His age is an issue and the first time he faces an opponet who wants to hurt him, he will be hurt and knocked out.

Fortunately for him, Fres Oquendo is not that guy. Fres is a good fighter; but he's too timid in nature to knock-out Holyfield. I'm not dissing Fres, he's got some skill and heart and all of that good stuff; but he doesn't have the killer instinct to go after and put away Holyfield, even at this age. Evander could actually win this one, based soley on Fres's fighting style....and whoever made this match knew that.

Evander does not have a good defense and never has; and just as concrete will chip away the longer you hit it with a sledge, so does a fighter's chin. Evnader has been in too many wars and taken too many punches. This comeback is a rouse to fool the blind faithful. The man's time is up; and has been up for a very long time. I just hope he doesn't get put in with someone who has the mentality and skills that could hurt him permanently.

If he has a good gameplan he might be able to beat Valuev.

        Holyfield

Even a supposely shot Holyfield would give all the current title holders a run for his money.. That is more than most of the top twenty can say

Oh boy, do I beg to differ.

Wladimir, if he wanted to, would knock Evander out within 5.
Sergei would force the Ref to stop it after about 7.
Valuev would win a relatively easy decision or get a late, late round stoppage.

Maskaev would be the best chance for Evander; but I still see Oleg winning pretty easily down the stretch.

Not only is Holyfield completely shot and clearly showing the begining effects of pugilistic dementia in his slurred speech, but he is also not a 4 time heavyweight champion.
