What are you guys talking about? Am I the only one having a problem with this story? This sounds like Witter being a ***** again. Its easy to say that your going to turn down Hopkins for the Hatton fight but what makes you think your getting a Hatton fight? That fight will never happened any time soon if it happeneds at all. It just sounds like a excuse not to fight a dangerous guy in Hopkins.

Hatton's fighting Urango and will probally fight Castillo after that and then maybe guys like Cotto or Harris after that. To me this sounds like Margarito saying that he wants to turn down a fight with Williams so he can fight Mayweather. Yeah, that sounds all well and good but if the guy wont fight you then what are you really doing? If you want to finaly find a way to start getting to Hatton then you have to fight and beat guys like Hopkins. Thats what will put the pressure on Hatton

Have you seen Hopkins record? He has fought all bums, he would get knocked out. Hatton was the unified champion at light welterweight.

Hopkins has not been in with the same level of fighters as witter. Junior might look like **** every time he fights but he's been in with some good guys, judah and corely to name the two obvious ones, whereas hiopkins is basically green, and theres nothing to indicate he would know what to do against a style like witters. Much, much more experienced fighters like corely, who had the beating of witter on paper but came up short when faced with the real guy cos they just didnt know what to make of the weirdo brenden ingle style of boxing. i would be tempted to say hatton would have the same problem, but would have the grit and mental toughness to fight through it and pull out a late stoppage. Hopkins on the other hand would get frustrated early and walk into shots for most of the fight and lose on points. Hopkins may be younger and stronger but he wouldnt be able to touch witter.
Witter not taking this fight (a chance to consolidate his U.S fame and earn some money against a huge name and prospect) is inexplicable to me, as hatton is most definately not availiable to fight Witter for a long time, possibly not until summer 07
