This fight wasn't supposed to be happening. The only reason Williams is fighting Nov 4th is because Goossen wanted him on the Mayweather PPV card.

There was a little over 3 weeks to get an opponent, and a week and a half when this new opponent was named.

You all are acting like they selected this as an easy fight. The only reason it's happening is because it's a chance for Williams to be on TV for the 3rd time this year.

Relax, and put things in context before you start ranting and complaining.
Thank you. Baldomir vs Mayweather is PPV Fight, people buying that fight would watch Williams, Williams is fighting this guy just on 1 weeks notice, before they found another opponent, but now they found a better one, the aim of this fight is to get people to watch Williams on tv

        That's ******ed.

He has the option to fight on an HBO PPV for his 3rd consecutive fight and he should turn it down?

You have no idea what you're talking about.

Any promotor would kill to have thier young prospect on the televised portion of a big PPV.

        It's huge exposure.

Sit back, wait for the Margo fight to be over, and enforce your mandatory position on the winner. By WBO rules, that fight must be within settled within 120 days of the end of this fight so, at the latest, it must take place no later than early April. Just chill out until then and don't risk getting hurt.

He had his show-off fight against Sharmba already.

This is all wrong. If you are not going to fight a quality opponent, then don't fight. Why risk getting hurt or even losing (gasp!) to a lucky punch just because you want to show off on a Mayweather undercard? It's not worth it.

            Wrong in every aspect.

If you have a young fighter, you want him in the ring as often as possible, staying active and in training.

If you're promoting a young fighter, you'd kill to have him on the televised portion of a big PPV.

He's going to KO this guy in less than 5 before a large audience of people who've never seen him fight before, along with people like Margarito, Oscar, Mosley etc etc watching at ringside.

It's absolutely the right idea, and a good opportunity.

They wanted Margarito Dec. 2nd. Fight didn't happen so they're staying busy and will still be ready and waiting for when it does happen early next year.

Well, I give Williams props for at least staying busy and trying to get himself some exposure. But any way you slice it, this opponent is a joke. He should blow him out in a round or two...

I don't think anyone's arguing that. It's the fact the opponent was now choosen on a week's notice that leads to that.

The first sentence of the first post says "Props to him for facing this guy instead" like it's supposed to be a step up for him. lol

Exactly he made it sound like Lucero is avoided by other fighters.
