    the future heavyweight champ

Eric Fields. 2-0, with 2 ko's. He just fought a few days ago. I figured everybody could stop wondering who was going to be the man who put the heavyweight division back on notice. Barring outside distractions it will take about 5 years. Patience.

I have never met Eric Fields, but I have seen him win the US national amateur championship. He is 24 http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=365605

http://www.usaboxing.org/92_1517.htm ( i copied what is below from this site)

USA BOXING HONORS ERIC FIELDS AND JESUS MENDEZ FOR THE APRIL ACHIEVEMENTS

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. – Heavyweight Eric Fields (Ardmore, Okla.) and lightweight Jesus Mendez (Houston, Texas) have been honored by USA Boxing for their achievements in the month of April.

Fields earned USA Boxing’s Athlete of the Month award following a gold medal at the 2006 National Golden Gloves in Omaha, Neb. Fields not only won the tournament but also received the Golden Boy award given to the Outstanding Boxer of the tournament. He won five bouts en route to his gold medal, defeating Danny Calhoun in the first round; stopping Paul Royal in the third round; beating Erick Vega in the quarterfinals, and winning over Joell Godfrey in the semifinals to win a spot on championship night. Fields ended the tournament with a 3-2 win over Jordan Shimmell in the championship bout. He is one of only two defending champions to repeat, joining light welterweight titlist Brad Solomon. The award is Fields’ second athlete of the month award. He received the award following his National Golden Gloves title in 2005 as well.

I know, it is a bold statement but i am so desperate to find the next champ that i had to look into the amateurs.

I have been a HUGE fan of Fields until his last fight.
It just bothered me that it took 3 rounds to KO Steven Archie.
I mean everyone knows that Georgi Kandelaki was able to KO Archie in just 2 rounds only 8 years ealier in Archie last fight...

212lbs in his last fight, he ought to see about dropping down to Cruiserweight and fight there. unless he has a lot of room to grow, 212 is now, sad to say, a small heavyweight.
going down just 12 lbs will probably be better for your boy, one for stamina as well as he'll be a larger guy and two have more effectiveness at cruiser with his power.

just a thought, if he's serious about fighting he ought to consider the options of having an advantage inside the ring other than skill.

just a thought. good luck bub.
