    Israel Vazquez interview

    Anson Wainwright: Welcome to Boxingtribune.com
    Israel Vazquez: Thank you.

AW: Can I take this opportunity to congratulate you on your recent victory against Jhonny Gonzalez. It was a very good fight. What are your feelings on the bout looking back?
IV: Thank you very much. I’m glad you liked it. I’m very happy right now. It was a very tough fight, but I’m happy I was able to come out on top! I had to get up from the canvas two times, but I returned the favour to Jhonny.

AW: It appeared that when you went down for the second time as though it was like a wake up call because you came on strong there after. Was this the case?
IV: Yes, it was. I knew I was down on points and had to get something started very soon. I never gave up on myself. I have a lot of heart and worked to hard to get to this point of my career. There was no way, I was going to quit.

AW: What has been your toughest fight to date?
IV: My toughest fight was against Oscar Larios. In our second fight, we both threw over a thousand punches. It was also consider fight of the year. It was a war.

AW: Who was your favourite fighter when you were a child?
IV: I loved Julio Caesar Chavez. He was a great warrior and I really looked up to him.

AW: There are lots of interesting fights out there for you now. Who would you like next?

IV: I’m not too sure right now. But I wouldn’t mind fighting Rafael Marquez. He’s a good champion and a win over him would get me in the pound for pound rankings. But there is a chance that I might fight at 126lbs soon.
AW: What do you make of your fellow champions & top contenders at Super Bantamweight?
IV: I think they are all very good fighters. But consider myself the best in the division. Ponce De Leon, Caballero are both good fighters.

AW: Finally any message for your fans?
IV: I want to thank my fans for supporting me! It really means a lot to me. I hope you all enjoyed the fight. And be sure to look out for me soon!

AW: Thanks Champ, keep up the good work.
IV: Thank you and keep up the good work Boxing Tribune

Marquez has looked kinda shaky sometimes,I dont know...we'll see how he looks.

Crude as de leon is,I think he would beat Israel,I dont see De Leon getting KO'ed,if that was gonna hapen it would have happened against Celestino I think.
