ok, had a chance to see his fights with sosa, dorin, and (again) cornett.
here's what i think:
1. he's slick as hell
2. cant punch for ****
3. doesn't run or hold! awesome movement
4. stays in the middle of the ring, goes to the body, takes shots himself.
he's defintely a boxer, but he doesnt run and hold like malignaggi or that little ***** spinks,
his style would be closer to say, kassim ouma (with much less power ofcourse, but more movement)
sosa dropped him and throughout the fight looked stronger and faster.
spadafora came back nicely and despite fighting someone he absolutely couldnt
hurt, he never ran or held. he fought hard, but i think he got a gift in that fight.
same with dorin, he got a gift. true, dorin never hurt him and spadafora did some really
nice body work, but he got caught clean all night, he got lucky with the draw.
conclusions? should he come back and be near where he was when he left i think
i'd rate him a "B" or "B-" fighter.
Consider, he's lefty and very slick. his style will always keep him ahead of the "face
first" guys like gatti, mayorga(147), and david estrada. This same style will keep him competative
with the likes of hatton, margarito, castillo (he'd prolly lose to all 3, but just trying
to point out that his style would keep him in those fights).
At the same time, he's clearly *not* on the level of say, cotto or judah,
so i don't see how someone can put him up there with mayweather or (pre-retired) tzsyu.
so, what's fair? IMHO, if he came back with the same skills he left with, i'd rank him above
someone like demarcus corley at 140 or someone like cintron at 147, but no higher than that.
OTOH, I looked at his record and he's really fought a bunch of nobodys. So, as far as style and skills are concerned,
i'd like to put him above someone like corley, chop-chop fought mayweather and judah, so not sure
it would be fair to do so.
i've only seen 5 of his fights, so for anyone who has seen more and wants to chime in, feel free.
feel free to mention what fights you've seen to back up your opinion (scap - i haven't gotten a chance
to see him fight Chucky T or Billy Irwin, yet though).
anyway, from what i've seen, i'd like to see more of him and am looking forward to his comeback.
Until then, i'll just watch kassim ouma, who is a better (though slightly different) version of spadafora
and regularly beats the top guys. Consider also, while spadafora is out shooting his wife, ouma is
tryin to help children from being kidnapped and forced into military action. He's a good man.Comment

If Leo Dorin catches you with shot after shot all night long you are not very slick.
Your a student of the game which is awesome, oh there is no way he could beat Cintron.
I agree with your B- conclusion, I would have given a C+ but maybe Im just to tough a grader.Comment
