Vital is seriously underrated on this forum and always will be because he wasn't able to beat anyone of note. I'm sure that if he didn't take the Lewis fight on short notice (he had been training for David Bolstice or some other journeyman while Lewis was training for one of the then most talented men in the division, Kirk Johnson) he would have beaten Lewis. As he was, half prepared, he was very close to taking him out, and had him in such a state after the end of that fight that he collapsed on his way to the dressing room.

Well thats ironic because his brother seems grossly overrated. I do agree that Vitali was the best bar Lewis, certainly.

Maybe Corrie Sanders could unretire lol. But in all seriousness, Boxing is about styles, Wladimir can look good against Chris Byrd, but a powerful man with fast hands is all it takes to give him nothing but trouble, even a guy like Shannon Briggs, who is not elite, possesses those qualities.

Wladimir is the better athlete but Vitali is the best heavyweight since Lewis. In fact, with the two of them in their primes, it would be a close fight that would go either way. The more I watch footage of his fights the more I think Vitali was the most impressive giant I've ever seen. He had decent athleticism, a solid punch in each hand, a hard chin, good stamina for a man his size, and an intelligent brain that could react and think under pressure. He may have looked robotic to some but looks don't mean **** to me; it's the result that counts in boxing. The guy was difficult to hit flush because of his ability to lean back and counterpunch, and even those that found him had a hard time finishing him or even hurting him with their punches. If you look at him objectively, he had all the physical and psychological gifts to be a great heavyweight.

How anyone can doubt his obvious talents is beyond me.
